A Doggy Taste Test

I was taking my morning stroll through the War Eagle Valley the other day and was greeted with a bark by my neighbor’s Bluetick Coonhound through their picket fence. As I got closer, I started to talk to Bella (that’s her name) and asked her how her morning was going.

She didn’t want much to do with me and sent me on my way with another bark. As I scurried away, I thought to myself, how can I win over my doggy neighbor? With a plate of baked treats, of course!

Check out this treat recipe I made from scratch with a bunch of War Eagle Mill wholesome ingredients. So easy to make and even human friendly! (I may have tried one or two!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to ¼ to ½ inch thick.

Use doggy shaped cookie cutters to cut out dough. (You can also use a pizza cutter and make ½  to 1 in. squares and slightly separate the edges.) Place on cookie sheet.

Bake for 40 minutes, then turn off oven and allow to cool in oven for an hour to crisp.

They came out perfectly with a nice brown crisp around the edges. Once they cooled down, I took a bite myself. Delicious! I knew Bella would love these!

I took my morning walk through the Valley and there she was with her big paws on the fence and her nose hard at work.  She knew I had treats just for her. She took one treat from my hand and then another.

With a full belly and her chops licked clean, she was a happy dog. No more barking. Now there’s a friendly waggin’ tail every morning as I stroll on by with my treat bag! So there you go, straight from the dog’s mouth: these treats are tasty!
