My Mill friends and I greeted Spring with wide open arms this weekend with plenty of tasty food, crafts and live music that echoed throughout the War Eagle Valley! All the sunshine and shades of green made it a perfect three day Spring Celebration at the War Eagle Mill.
All day long, the Bean Palace Restaurant was buzzing with big appetites. Many piled their breakfast plates with warm biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and bacon and enjoyed the bean soup and cornbread lunch special. Some just couldn’t leave without a scoop of pecan cobbler! And if that wasn’t enough good food, they followed the smell of peanut butter down the stairs and tried samples of my new recipe: Peanut Butter Buckwheat Cookies. Deeeelish!
Outside the Mill, the celebration was on full blast with wonderful local artists playing their favorites on the porch. Saturday, the John Burnette Band played some classics that got you humming along and kickin’ up your feet. Take a listen!
Anna Horton’s vocals gave me shivers! Listen to her beautiful voice as she sings “Fever”.
Beyond the porch in the grass fields, were numerous crafters and shoppers at the Sharp Arts & Crafts Show. So many unique and handmade items to see and purchase. It was too hard to bring only one home!
One unique craft really caught my eye: Raku Pottery. Listen close as crafter, Denise Rodgers, from Clinton, Arkansas, describes the process of Raku and making her little lotuses. I love how they glisten in the sun!
The Spring Celebration weekend finished strong on Sunday with local artist, Justin Leflar, and his country and bluegrass playin’ band. Talk about some pickin’ skills on that banjo! They played my favorite Johnny Cash song: “Folsom Prison Blues”. Give it a listen.
What a fun three day weekend to celebrate Spring! Many memories made with all my Mill friends.
There’s more to come this May! Have you heard Chef Remmi from Cook Time with Remmi is coming to visit and filming her cooking show on May 25th? We’ve got more details on our website. Hope you can join us!
