Ingredients: Organic Hard Red Wheat
Bread Machine Directions:
- Add the first 5 ingredients to the bread machine and set it on the dough cycle.
- Once the cycle is complete, use floured hands to remove the dough and shape it into a 16-inch long, 3-inch wide baguette.
- Brush the baguette with butter and place it on a baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal.
- Cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Make 4 slashes across the width of the loaf.
Conventional Oven Directions:
- In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and warm water.
- Beat in salt and gradually add flour.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough into a baguette and follow the steps mentioned above.
- Bake the prepared baguette in a preheated 400-degree oven for about 30 minutes or until it turns golden. Spritz the baguette with water twice during the baking cycle.

WEM – you never let me down and this was no exception! Who knew I could bake bread! It has been over 40 years since I have been around anyone that baked bread. My paternal grandmother was an amazing bread baker, my mom never like to bake bread so she didn’t do it much. Grandma is long gone and mom just does store bought! As I move to more wholesome and fresh food I figured I would give it a try. Everything I have purchased from WEM has been absolutely fantastic, I figured the bread flour would be the same high quality and I was right. I found a good recipe and went to town. PERFECT! The flour worked up well, incorporated into my dough ball quickly using the dough hook on my Kitchenaid mixer. I couldn’t ask for better. Thanks once again for an absolutely wonderful and high quality product (will be ordering a 25 lb bag….I suspect I am going to be baking a lot of bread it is a hit in the household)
